Why it matters
Pairs with excluded_destination for finer control. If you want an item only in Free_listings (not Shopping_ads or Display_ads), include just Free_listings.
Included_destination is the inverse of excluded_destination — explicit allow-list rather than deny-list. Use when the default (serve everywhere) isn't what you want and you need to explicitly limit serving to a subset of surfaces.
The use case is narrow: items that should only appear in Free Listings (organic catalog discovery), or only in Local Inventory Ads (in-store pickup eligible), or only in Display Ads (remarketing-eligible). Most catalogs serve broadly across surfaces and don't need this restriction.
If both included_destination and excluded_destination are set on the same item, included takes precedence — the item appears only in listed destinations. Most teams pick one approach per item rather than mixing.

FAQ
What's the default if neither included nor excluded is set?
Items serve in all destinations the account is enabled for. Most catalogues don't need either field — only set them when you need surface-specific control.
