Why it matters
Click-and-collect items get separate placement opportunities — Local Inventory Ads and 'pickup today' signals in Shopping. Items that support pickup should declare it so they qualify for those surfaces.
Click-and-collect / BOPIS / in-store pickup unlocks Local Inventory Ads placements that pure-online catalogs can't access. Items with pickup_method declared compete in geo-local placements where pickup speed becomes a primary differentiator — "pickup today" beats "ships in 3-5 days" for customers in immediate need.
The values declare the model. `buy` = buy online, pick up immediately. `reserve` = reserve online, pay at store. `ship to store` = order ships to nearest store for pickup. `not supported` = explicit declaration that pickup isn't available (rather than leaving empty).
Pure e-commerce sellers without physical stores can't offer pickup and should leave the field empty. The field is only meaningful for retailers with physical retail presence.
