Why it matters

Completes the dimensional triplet. Channels and carriers can only compute accurate shipping with all three dimensions present.

Height completes the dimensional triplet. The three together produce accurate dim weight; missing any one gets backed-out from carrier defaults that usually overstate. For sheet-like items (rugs, blankets, flat-packed furniture), height is the dimension that varies most when packaged vs. unpackaged — populate the packaged height.

The packaging context: items that arrive flat-packed get the flat-packed height. Assembled-size height matters for the product page but not for shipping cost; carriers ship the packaged version.

For collapsible items (foldable furniture, vacuum-packed clothing), the compressed packaging height is what carriers measure. Don't populate expanded sizes when packaging compresses smaller — that overstates shipping cost.

FAQ

What if my product is irregularly shaped?

Use the longest measurement on each axis (the bounding box). Carriers ship in rectangular packaging, so the bounding box determines the shipping cost.
